How to Connect 4 Monitors to One PC for Trading (2026)

Monitor, graphics card and monitor arm for a four-screen trading setup

To run 4 monitors on one PC, you need 4 display outputs — usually a graphics card with four ports, or a card plus the motherboard's own ports with built-in graphics enabled. Processor power is rarely the limit for trading screens; ports, cables and settings are.

Quick look: Dell E2425HM 23.8" 100Hz IPS.

Step 1: Count your outputs

Look at the back of the PC. Ports on the graphics card (lower, horizontal row) come from the card; ports near the USB sockets come from the motherboard and only work if your processor has built-in graphics. Processors with F in the name (like a 12400F) have no built-in graphics, so those motherboard ports stay dead.

Step 2: Pick one of these setups

Setup What you need Good for
Graphics card with 4 outputs Most mid-range cards have 3 DisplayPort + 1 HDMI — check the exact model's spec sheet Cleanest, most reliable
Graphics card + motherboard outputs CPU with built-in graphics, and multi-monitor for the built-in graphics turned on in the BIOS Adding a 5th or 6th screen
Two graphics cards Two free PCIe slots and a larger PSU 6–8 screens

Step 3: Use the right cables

  • Use DisplayPort where the monitor has it; HDMI is fine for 1080p.
  • Avoid long cheap adapters — they cause flicker and "no signal" after sleep.
  • Keep all four monitors at the same resolution and scaling for smooth window movement.

Step 4: Set up Windows

  1. Open Settings → System → Display and click Identify.
  2. Drag the screens to match their real position on the desk.
  3. Pick the main screen for your order window and taskbar.

Step 5: Mount them properly

A 2×2 layout on a quad monitor arm keeps the screens aligned and frees desk space — ask us on WhatsApp and we supply and fit the arm with your setup. Reliable 24-inch IPS screens like the Dell E2425HM 23.8" 100Hz IPS FHD are a common trading choice.

Our recommendation

For four screens, a graphics card with four outputs is the simplest setup. Our trading PCs are built with the right outputs for the screen count you choose. More in how many monitors you need for trading.

Frequently asked questions

Can any PC run 4 monitors?

Only if it has four usable display outputs. Many office PCs have only two, so they need a graphics card.

Do I need a powerful graphics card for 4 trading screens?

No. Even an entry graphics card can run four 1080p trading screens; the number of ports matters more than power.

Can I use the motherboard HDMI and the graphics card together?

Yes, if the processor has built-in graphics and the BIOS option for multi-monitor with built-in graphics is enabled.

Why does one screen say no signal?

Usually a loose cable, a cheap adapter, or motherboard ports being used with an F-series processor that has no built-in graphics.

Is a USB display adapter good for trading?

It works for static screens but can lag with fast-moving charts. Direct graphics outputs are better.
